***All submissions should relate to chronic illness in some way***
We're looking for first-person essays. The essay doesn't have to be about you, necessarily, but you must be present in it. (That said, please don't try to fit your entire life story into one essay.) We're open to researched and reported essays, too, as long as that first-person point of view is present. We're also interested in more literary essays and experimental forms.
We publish the occasional long read, but are much more likely to accept work under 2,000 words.
Most of the essays we publish will likely be by people experiencing chronic illness, but we're also interested in essays by people who don't have illness themselves but are adjacent to it in some way--as a spouse, parent, child, medical professional, etc.
